Puerto Jimenez is a small, convenient rural town with it's own airport, restaurants, bank, ATM, gas station, shops, internet cafes, car rentals, grocery stores & night life. From Puerto Jiménez, you can explore just about everything there is to offer, even take a ferry across the gulf to the colorful city of Golfito. There are many fun eco tours near by: zip lines, kayaking, quiet beaches, horse back riding, swimming with Dolphins, rappelling, chocolate tours and more. It also offers easy access to the beaches of Cabo Matapalo, Puntarenitas and Carate.

The best way to visit the Corcovado National Park is through the town of Puerto Jimenez. An excellent place to start hiking as an extensive network of trails begin from here, there is a ranger station in town with detailed information for trekking and camping in the park. Reservations are necessary no more than 36 hours in advance and there is a daily limit of 50 people.
